Affordable Beauty Blenders

Photo from www.shop.beautyblender.net

Beauty sponges are used to blend out concealer. There are many different shapes but I find the egg shaped ones very useful. You can use the tip part of it to get in the corners of your eyes and you can use the rounded part to blend it all in. You can purchase the real beauty blenders online and in stores for $19.95 and up which I think is way over priced. I found an off brand version of them at TJ Maxx for only $4.99, I even found one in the clearance section for $2.99.

Affordable Lipstick Dupes

Every girl could use a few good lipsticks. I ran across this website that had a really good chart for Mac dupes. I would rather pay $1.99 than $15.00 for a lipstick any day. The colors aren't exactly the same but they are very similar.

Ugg boots... are they worth the money?

I have owned three pair of Uggs in the past 5 years i've also purchased a few non-name brand boots that are similar to Uggs.. in my opinion i DO think Uggs are worth the money. The pair of the short classic ones run about $165 and a pair of classic tall ones cost around $199. This is a lot of money for a pair of shoes (i have to admit i'm super cheap!) but they last a really long time. The cheaper ones i've had i've bought at shoe carnival or Target. I don't even remember the brand of them I just know they were horrible. I couldn't even wear them in the snow because the snow would sink into my boots and then into my socks! I have never tried Bearpaw boots but i've heard they are similar to Uggs as far as their construction goes. If your looking for good snow boots that will keep your feet warm then Uggs  are it. They are very sturdy and very reliable.

Who wore it best?

I feel like it may have been a while since i've done a who wore it best post.. The left is a recent picture of Kim Kardashian on the set of her family's 2013 christmas card and the right is a photo of Carmen Electra. I think the dress is ugly but if I had to pick one I would go with Kim K simply because she fills it out a little better. This picture is a little to over the top for a christmas card in my opinion but hey.. Shes is a Kardashian so anything goes right?

Winter Makeup tutorial!

This video is a few months old but I recently ran across it. I really like it and I think it would make a good holiday look!

I finally tried it... MACs Cyber

photo from temptalia.com

I finally tried out MACs Cyber lipstick and lined it with MACs Nightmoth lip liner and I must say... I do like it! Its a very dark plum and depending on the lighting of your photos, if its dark out and you dont have flash, it may even look black. But i think its a very good color if you're going out and want to spice up your makeup a little bit. I wore it this weekend with a smokey eye to a concert but if I were just going out with friends or something I probably wouldn't do a smokey eye.. I'd more than likely just do really neutral makeup, winged eyeliner and then the Cyber lipstick because this lipstick is very bold in itself.

Black Friday

Its the one day that you either hate... or love. Black Friday. I personally hate it! I have never shopped during black friday and I probably never will. I just don't think its worth standing in line in the cold and being pushed over discounted items. I would much rather just go online and find black friday and cyber monday deals on there. But if you love going out at 6pm Thanksgiving day or around midnight their are tons of retail stores  that are having specials for black friday such as: Forever 21, Torrid, JCpenny, Sears, Express, Gap, Aeropostale, Gordmans, Victorias Secret, Payless, Shoe Carnival and many more. In stores and online some of these stores are offering 20-45% off of select items. If you're shopping online most have lowered their minimum shipping fee amount for free shipping from $50 to $25 or $30. Most of these stores will be open by 5am (if not sooner) and offer some pretty nice discounted items.

Avatar Halloween makeup tutorial

Halloween is slowly but surely approaching. This video was made a few years ago but I think its one the most realistic avatar makeup tutorials that I've seen (that doesn't involve having to purchase prosthetics). What do you guys think about it?

Leather Joggers

Leather Joggers have become a big trend for the fall. I've seen a lot of celebrities like Kim Kardashian, Beyonce and Miley Cyrus wearing them. I think they have a cute punk/rock feel but what spices them up is wearing some sort of a heel with them. You can find these pants for a reasonable price on Ebay for a little over $28 or you can buy the ones pictured below on DrJays.com for $79.00.

The code for H&M is 7913 if you are ordering online. Click here for the in-store coupon. Elf primer vs. Urban decay primer potion

Eyeshadow primer is supposed to be used before putting eyeshadow on your eyelids so that the eyeshadow will stay in place and not make creases on your eyelids throughout the day. I haven't used Urban decays primer potion but I've seen a lot of reviews on it on Youtube compared to Elf's eyeshadow primer. Elf's primer can be found at Target for only $1. Yup, thats right. $1! I've been using Elf's primer for about 4 months now and it really works and I like it. Urban decays primer potion is $20 at Sephora.

My personal experience with Toms.

Toms have been popular for the past year or two but are they really worth it? Toms range anywhere from $44+ depending on the style. I went and tried on a pair of Tom's at the mall and also a pair of shoes that look similar to Toms by the brand Bongo at K-mart. When I tried on the Toms I didn't like them at all. The bottoms of them weren't very soft and they fit strange on my feet. After that I went to K-mart and tried on the Bongo brands version of the Toms and I have to say that they are some of my favorite shoes right now. Not only are they cheaper than real Toms and look like them, they also have some type of cushion support on the bottom which makes them really soft. I wear them to work all the time and never have I came home with sore feet. They only difference in the outer appearance is that the Bongo shoes don't say "Toms" on them. You can buy Bongo's version for only $14.99 online or in stores at K-mart. I liked them so much I bought three pairs because they were buy one get one half off at the time.

Its that time of year again :(

Summer is almost here and it's that time of year again that I dread....swimsuit shopping. :(  I hate shopping for swimsuits with a passion! Nothing ever fits or looks right. The bottoms are too big or the tops too small, the one piece makes me look like someones grandma so I just stay away from the pool as much as I can! However you cant possibly stay away from swimsuits because they're everywhere! I cant even go to Walmart to buy a gallon of milk without them being right next to the checkout section. So, I have came up with a few places that sell affordable and cute swimsuits (in no particular order).

1. Forever21 - Forever 21.com has super cheap swimsuits starting at $4.80 (per piece)! And they're really cute. And on top of that they now have a plus size line that has affordable swimsuits as well.
2. Target- Target.com always has really cute designs when it comes to swimsuits. They're a little higher than Forever21 but they're still affordable.
3. Torrid- Torrid.com is a great store for women who wear a size 12+. They are a little higher than Target and Forever 21 but hey, you get what you pay for and it's still cheaper than going to Macy's to buy a swimsuit.

Cute and comfy high-low skirts

It took me probably a year to come around and actually like high-low skirts/dresses. I first noticed that they were really popular last summer. Every store I went to had them on display like Forever21, Wet Seal, and Torrid. But it wasn't until last month that I decided that I would buy a high-low dress. I ordered an all black one off of Forever21.com for only $15 and as soon as I put it on, I fell in love with it. The one thing I love about it is that its shows off just enough leg. Not too much and not too little, so its very versatile. I can wear my dress to church with some flat sandals or wear it out to eat with my friends on a friday night. It's dressy but not too dressy. The only thing that i would say is to be conscious of your height!  I'm 5'6 and my high-low dress fits perfect so the back doesn't drape the ground like a wedding train. However if your shorter (5'3 and under) the high-low style might not work for you because you might catch yourself constantly tripping over the back of it.

Feeling a little minty!

Okay, I dont know what it is but I have recently fell in LOVE with the color mint green! It's like my new favorite obsession. It all started off when I saw a girl on a plane wearing mint green nail polish. After that i went to Walmart, bought some mint green nail polish by Sally Hansen, and I've been hooked ever since! I think that both mint green & coral are going to be very popular colors for the spring/summer. I love the photo below. I don't think that you necessarily have to wear mint green from head to toe, but a little pop of mint green can spice up an outfit! My personal favorites from the photo below are the mint green skinny jean, pumps, aviator sunglasses and high-low skirt.

Affordable makeup from BH Cosmetics

Good quality makeup can be very costly. Thats why BH Cosmetics is a really good place to purchase affordable makeup from beginner makeup wearers to college students. Right now they currently have a 60% special on some of their items. That means you can get a 60 color eyeshadow palette for as low as $10.95. Which is a very good deal, companies like MAC charge $15+ for only one eye shadow. To view BH cosmetics website go to http://www.bhcosmetics.com/

Sneaker Wedges. Are they cute, or not so much?

I have no clue where this "sneaker wedge" trend came from but I have seen a lot of celebrities as well as a few students on campus wearing these shoes. I dont like them at all. I feel like when it comes to women's shoes it should be one or the other. Either a sneaker or a wedge but not both. Thats like making a flip flop with a heel on it. I guess it would be called a "flip heel"? I dont know,  it's just strange to me! Pictured above is Jessica Biel wearing a pair of Nike sneaker wedges. How do you feel about the shoes?

How to get the perfect Brows- Eyebrow threading

Eyebrow threading originated in India but over the years it has made its way to North America. Eyebrow threading is when you twist a piece of thread into a double strand then the string gently rubs against the eyebrow for hair removal. I have had my eyebrows plucked, waxed and threaded and to be honest I have liked threading the most. Mainly because it's so precise and removes the hair with a clean finish. Plus it lasts longer than plucking and waxing so the hair doesn't grow back as fast. Plucking eyebrow hair is just way too time consuming and it hurts! Eyebrow threading is a little uncomfortable but it doesn't hurt that bad. The avg price I have seen for eyebrow threading is around $12-$18. The video above is a short clip of a girl showing you how its done professionally and also a before and after picture at the end.

Rihanna debuts clothing line

Rihanna recently debuted her clothing line "River Island" at Fashion Week in London. The collection looks a lot like her. It has a lot of sheer and midriff mixed with some bagginess. I'm a little iffy about Rihanna's style. She looks great on red carpets but as far as her everyday "running around" look. Im not a fan of it. In my opinion I don't think a lot of students around campus would buy her clothing but I guess only time will tell.

55th Annual Grammy Awards

2013 Grammy Awards - slideshow maker

Just last week the 55th annual Grammy Awards were hosted by LL Cool J. Many of your favorite singers and song writers were in attendance. The slide show above just shows a few of the many that came dressed to impress that evening.
